Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Solution Specialist for an outside sales role to join our dynamic team in the Greater Vancouver Area, reporting to the Director of Sales. This role is focused on the supply of water and wastewater treatment chemicals, including coagulants, flocculants and other specialty chemicals to facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest. The ideal candidate will leverage their background in chemistry or biology and experience in water treatment to drive sales through a consultative approach, identifying and addressing customer needs from initial contact through to successful implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and reach out to potential clients in various sectors, including municipal water and wastewater, industrial manufacturing, food & beverage, remediation, quarries, construction, agriculture, and forest products, to generate new business opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to understand client requirements, challenges, and current processes related to water and wastewater treatment.
  • Conduct lab tests on client samples, analyze results, and prepare detailed reports outlining recommended solutions to present the results and suggestions for next steps.
  • Oversee and manage plant trials of proposed solutions, ensuring effective implementation and monitoring performance to validate the benefits of our products.
  • Utilize a consultative approach to identify optimization opportunities within clients’ treatment processes that may be overlooked by current personnel. Provide expert recommendations and solutions tailored to enhance plant efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing ongoing support and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle and beyond.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market demands to identify new business opportunities and refine sales strategies.

Essential Experience / Qualifications

  •  Must reside in the Greater Vancouver Area, BC, and be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field, or equivalent experience in water treatment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Highly motivated with a strong drive to succeed, capable of making cold calls, working independently and managing a regional territory effectively.
  • Confidence, honesty and integrity are key qualities for success in this position, the ability to have open and transparent discussions with potential clients is essential.

Desirable Experience / Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial sales, preferably within an industry dealing with water or wastewater treatment. Familiarity with coagulants, flocculants, and other specialty chemicals such as boiler/cooler chemistry.
  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes and the ability to conduct and interpret lab tests and data.
  • Experience in a consultative sales environment with a track record of identifying and addressing client needs and providing strategic solutions.
